Shotton RFC 67 – 0 Rhyl and District RFC
Rhyl returned to action after a three week lay off an to come up against 2nd place Shotton was not what they needed. In the hottest day of the year Rhyl were beaten in all aspects by the well drilled and fitter Shotton team, the youngsters from Rhyl never gave in , they took the game to Shotton and were close to the line on several occasions. There was a lengthy break just before half time as Rhyl full back , Che Hudson, took a hard knock to his back. He was taken to hospital which revealed bruising to his kidney and surrounding area. Both teams wish him a speedy recovery Shotton were 38 -0 at half time and continued to run up the points. Frustration creeped in to some players and Rhys Dru Roberts received a yellow card for arguing with the referee. Shotton ran in eleven tries , on this performance fully deserve their favourites tag to be promoted alongside Denbigh.
