The Dragons returned from Deeside having progressed to the next round of the WRU bowl but only after a tough struggle against a well drilled Shotton outfit. It was in fact the home side who opened the scoring with a converted try after a fortunate bounce of the ball deceived the Rhyl full back. It took the dragons most of the half to come alive but after some good work from Reeve Wright, winger Che Hudson went over in the corner to get the dragons back into the game and shortly afterwards full back Tom Jones went over to give the Dragons a lead which they never really looked like loosing.
The second half was played mainly in the Shotton half with good work in the loose by Rhyls pack led by James Fish and Joe Warhurst making up for Rhyls persistent problems with their set piece giving the talented visitors backline the chance to run in further scores for stand off Richie Williams, who also converted 3 scores, a tremendous solo effort from Reeve Wright and two further scores for Tom Jones to give him a well deserved hat trick .
The Dragons make the long journey to Llanidloes next weekend in the league and while Head Coach Seb Vidal will be pleased with the score line from todays game, a full attendance at training will be needed this week to ensure they return with a positive result.
