Rhyl entertained Newtown at Tynewydd Field and maintained their unbeaten record in the league this season recording a 36-15 victory in front of a good crowd. They soon set up a 10 point lead with a try by Cal Morris converted by Richie Williams who earlier had added a penalty to his tally. Newtown scored a penalty before centre Jason Blackmore crossed for his first try of the season leaving Rhyl 15-3 up at the interval.
In the second half Rhyl were pressing in the Newtown 22 when Richie Williams broke through to score and convert it himself before Newtown had a converted try of their own. Further try’s by Reeve Wright and Cail Hughes , both converted by Williams confirmed the bonus point win. Newtown did get a late try but were well beaten in the end.
Next Saturday unbeaten Rhyl travel to unbeaten Mold in what is already being called a decisive game for both teams . Both teams are on 19 points with Mold having the superior points difference.
