The dragons returned to league action at Tynewydd Field on Saturday and ended the day as comfortable winners in a match played in difficult conditions after the pitch passed a late fitness test following a lot of hard work from club volunteers and players. Rhyl were on the front foot throughout the match and to their credit tried to play the teams trademark expansive game on a wet and heavy pitch.
It was no surprise when powerful centre Jason Blackmore powered over for the first of Rhyls 7 tries, two of which were converted by Richie Williams. Further first half tries came from wing Reeve Wright and a brace from flanker Tom Williams to get the bonus point secured. The second carried on in the same style as the first, Rhyls pack were totally dominant and it was only the difficult conditions which limited the hosts to two further tries, Reeve Wrights second, one from full back Tom Jones and a great, long range solo effort from Brad White.
Top of the table Rhyl now travel to Bangor next Saturday looking to continue the unbeaten run and although sterner tests lie ahead, Head Coach Jimmy Waring will be pleased with his sides start to the season.
