Shotton Victorious Despite Conditions
Shotton 2nds won 29 points to nil against a feisty Rhyl 2’s at ‘The Waen’. Both teams made a good fist of the encounter despite the weather on a very wet and sticky pitch. Shotton were dominant early on and were rewarded with a try from winger Rhys Williams after some strong running. Three minutes later, Shotton scored in the opposite corner with a sublime pick up from the ruck by Mike Howlett after numerous phases of play. Shotton started the second half much the same as the first when strong running from Second Row Rich Smith, saw him crash over on 44 minutes. Steve Garratt showed his class on 55 minutes, crashing over the whitewash after a powerful driving run and Man of the Match, Simon Donnelly, scored under the posts after one of his many jinking runs. The extra points were added from the boot of Scrum Half, Gareth Evans.
