With what was suspected to be a serious injury to Rhyl’s centre ,Richie Williams , in the first minute of the Conwy Land rover intermediate cup game at Denbigh did not seem to unsettle the young Rhyl side. Playing the strong Denbigh for the second consecutive Saturdays, and having been soundly beaten last week, this developed into a good end to end game. Denbigh pounced on the many errors by Rhyl to run in several try’s but the visitors fought back bravely to score three try’s by Che Hudson , Tom Yates and the hard working Greg Proffit. These were al converted by Jason Blackmore and with the penalty by Cal Morris ending the scoring for Rhyl. Denbigh won 45- 24. They are a side worth of there position at the top of the league and are strong favourites to lift the intermediate cup. Rhyl are one of the few teams to produce a double fibre score against Denbigh. Back to league action next Saturday with the long trip to Welshpool.
