Rhyl and District RFC took on Cobra RFC in what had been billed as the last game at the Waen . This young Rhyl turned in their best performance of the season. Playing in front of of a large crowd seemed to invigorate them much to the delight of head coach Seb Vidal. It would be difficult to name a man of the match. They ran in seven tries , six of them converted by the boot of Richie Williams. The game looked to be going Cobras way as Rhyl gave away three penalties in a short period of the first half which were converted into points but Rhyl’s backs linked together to take the ball from one side of the pitch to score in the opposite corner. Scoring three try’s in the first half to lead 19-9 at the break. Continuing in the second half it didn’t take long for Rhyl to score their fourth try to secure a bonus point. Three more try’s followed with Cobra getting two in reply for the game to finish 47-21 to the hosts. Rhyl now stand sixth in division 2 with 41 points, a place that can’t be improved on even if they win their last game against Llanidloes. The preparations will start soon for league positions to improve with the move to Tynewydd Road for the start of next season.
