Rhyl 2nds 47 - 20 Bala 2nds

Saturdays match at the Waen saw a rejuvenated Rhyl and District second team squad continue their unbeaten start to the season against a hardworking Bala side who competed well throughout a game that was never quite as straightforward as the score might suggest.  The visitors started well and took the lead with an early penalty but the home sides game plan soon saw them take control.  Rhyl's performance was based on some consistent first phase ball with a solid scrum and an excellent line out, with the accurate throwing of Captain Damion Jones and some good lifting ensuring a steady supply of quality  ball.
Rhyl's dominance paid off when the impressive Cail Hughes went over for the first of his three try's followed by scores for Damon Price and a second from Hughes to give the home side a 17 points to 3 half time lead.
Rhyl continued to dominate after the break with forwards Ashley Brown, Shane Brooks and Lee Bridge leading the way, ably led by the impressive scrum half  Che Hudson who was excellent until an injury ended his afternoon.   Bala, to their credit never gave up and scored three second half try's of their own.  Further Rhyl try's came from Reeve Wright and the veteran Matt Hession with 6 conversions added by Tyler Prime to make the final score Rhyl 47 Bala 20.  This performance will have given Head Coach Dan Jones plenty to consider in selection ahead of next weeks fixtures and can only bode well for a good season for our second team and the club as a whole.
