After the international break , the last thing Rhyl and District RFC needed was to travel to Llanidloes RFC with several regular players unavailable. Rhyl fielded what may be the youngest side they have fielded with seven of last seasons youth team in the starting lineup. The game started lively with Rhyl first to score with Richie Williams converting a penalty on his first game back after suffering an injury at Denbigh over a month ago. Alas this was the only time that Rhyl scored. The Young side we’re overpowered in the scrums and lineouts but tackled hard and could not prevent Llanidloes scoring three tries in the first half, with one converted for a 17-3 lead at half time. The second half continued with Llanidloes pushing forward but the stern defence by Rhyl held firm and allowed a converted try to be the only score of the send half which secured the bonus point win for Llanidloes. This leaves them three points behind Rhyl but they have three games in hand. Mention must be made of Oliver Rowan who came off the bench for his senior debut adding him to the other ex youth players the future looks bright for Rhyl and District RFC as they head to the new ground and club house next season.
