Rhyl and District 1st XV made the long journey to mid Wales to play a strong COBRA RFC in very demanding wet conditions. In a first half littered with errors, by both side due to the wet ball, did not lend itself to attractive rugby and both sides failed to put many phases together. COBRA did manage to convert a penalty after Rhyl’s Joe Warhurst was sent to the sidelines for ten minutes for a late tackle. Cobra extended their lead with a converted try to lead 10-0 at the interval. At the start of the second period Rhyl managed to get on the score sheet when Ben Syme converted a penalty but that was all they managed and with COBRA running in more tries to give them the bonus point win at 32-3. After four league games Rhyl have won 1 and lost three games to the three teams that are regarded to be the strongest teams in the division and many believe that the two promoted clubs at the end of the season will come from those teams. Next week the first team are away at Bangor RFC in the National Bowl. Last season honours were even between these two teams so it will be a good close encounter.
