The Dragons travelled to third placed Wrexham in the penultimate game of the season looking to move on from last weeks heavy loss at Shotton. Unfortunately the Dragons customary poor away start gave the home side, themselves still harbouring promotion hopes, an early lead. Further dragons errors saw Wrexham move into a 19 point lead and give themselves an uphill task. Rhyl then began to come to life and finished the half strongly with the pack, led by Dru Roberts and Tom Williams beginning to gradually dominate. Rhyl started the second half strongly and after dominating possession second row Ashley Brown crossed the line for the first of his brace. Wrexham increased their lead with a further try however the remainder of the game was dominated by Rhyl with Browns second and an excellent try by Tore Wright ensuring that pride was restored in a game that Rhyl could well have won.
Rhyls final game will be at home to Cobra on the 12th of May in what will be the final game at the Waen before the clubs move to the town. A good turnout from all members, supporters and players past and present would be appreciated for what promises to be a great day.
