Rhyl maintained their lead at the top of division 2 by 7 points from Mold and Wrexham with an outstanding performance in front of a good following supporters at Shotton. Many expected a tough game and the result caused some disbelieve by supporters that didn’t attend the game. The strong cross wind did not favour either side and Rhyl played more through the hands with kicking being kept to a minimum. In attack they were strong with all playing their part, led by skipper Simon Johnston, they covered the metres followed by a decisive break by the backs. Four try’s in each half, the bonus point secured by half time.
The defence held strong and Shotton were denied any scoring chances , Try’s were scored by Tom Jones, Reeve Wright, Will Morris, Jason Blackmore, Brad White and Tom Williams . Richie Williams converted four to give a 48-0 winning margin
Next week Coach Jimmy Waring hopes his side can continue this form as they welcome Nant Conwy 2nds to Tynewydd Field. KO 2-30.
