Rhyl youth welcomed Denbigh youth on Friday evening to play under the lights at Tynewydd Field. These Friday evening games are popular with a large crowd present to enjoy the evening entertainment. Rhyl youth were presented with new training tops by team sponsors NWPS Construction Ltd prior to the game. Once the game started both teams showed their intentions with the defences having to hold firm. Rhyl number 8, Paddy Nelson , made many powerful runs at the Denbigh defence which led to Jack Walsh crossing for a try. Denbigh fought back and a successful penalty reduced the gap to 5-3 . Tom Jones added a penalty to take Rhyl to the break leading 8-3. The second half was again well balanced and even after Paddy Nelson was sin binned for 10 minutes, Denbigh could not break through the Rhyl lines. In the final 10 minutes of the game Tom Jones spotted a gap and sprinted through to touch down under the posts. He converted this for the extra 2 points. Rhyl deservedly won the game 15-3 and recorded there first win this season. This will have given them encouragement for future games.
