Rhyls unbeaten Run at Tynewydd field continued on Saturday with their fourth bonus point win in succession to earn bragging rights against local rivals Colwyn Bay. The home side started brightly playing their trademark high tempo style of rugby and it was only a matter of time before wing Che Hudson went over following some great phases of play. A Richie Williams penalty increased the lead before Man of the Match Reeve Wright went over for the first of an excellent brace. He soon followed this with his second, a tremendous solo score from inside his own half. A late score from the bay kept them in the game at half time with the score at 20 points to 7.
To Colwyn Bays credit, they looked a much better side after the break and an excellent individual try from the number 8 saw the deficit cut to 8 points. The second half was a much more even affair with chances for both sides, however Rhyl finally got back into their stride and a Damon Price score, converted by Richie Williams secured the game and the bonus point.
Rhyls ever improving youth team came away from Llangefni with 24 points to 5 loss. The Dragons take a break from league action next week with a trip to Pwllheli in the North Wales cup, however the second team are at home to Shotton, all support welcome.
