Rhyl hosted Bala in a return fixture from last weekend and were much improved. In the true spirit of “always a game”Bala arrived with six players to Rhyl’s ten , so players loaned to make it eight aside and get a run out for all. After a shaky start conceding 4 early tries Rhyl found their feet with 2 good scores of their own The two sides then traded tries just before and after half time with some spirited play from both sets of players Bala finished on the front foot scoring the games last try, with some good interplay So all in all a much improved performance from Rhyl still wasnt quite enough to gain the win. Rhyl first team travelled to Newtown with just 15 players and put up a spirited fight even when reduced to 12 players for most of the second half through injuries. Newtown won 64-17 but Rhyl were praised by the opposition for not giving in as some teams might. Next Saturday the team as a long journey for the third consecutive weekend as they travel to COBRA in the WRU Bowl.
