With a kick off time of 12 -00 to fit in around the Six Nations game both Rhyl and Colwyn Bay turned out strong youth sides in this North Wales Youth Championship league encounter. Colwyn bay started the strongest running in Three tries but Rhyl who have the reputation of never giving up replied with a try of their own, 17 -5 down at the break, what ever coach Andy Carroll said brought the best out of the team. With both teams scoring a further 3 Tries each the final score was 36-24 in favour of Colwyn Bay. Try scorers for Rhyl were Kai Bedemann 2, Ollie Staveley and Callum Gardner. Calum also kicked two conversions in difficult conditions.
With no game for next Saturday the team will be at Tynewydd Field as the 1st XV take on Mold RFC in what is expected to be a strong game . Both teams are hoping for promotion. Mold are 12 points adrift with a game in hand. This is the first meeting of the teams as the earlier fixture was postponed due to Cup commitments. With Wrexham lying 2nd some 10 points behind Rhyl but they have 2 games in hand. It is going to be an interesting final run in to end the season.
