Benllech RFC 10 -19 Rhyl and District

Rhyl travelled to Bangor to play Benllech in this Div3 north west fixture, as Benllech ground was unavailable, with several players out through injury or unavailability. Facing the bright sun and the breeze behind them in the first half Rhyl’s team struggled to master the conditions. With Benllech using the high ball which was difficult to see in the sun, Rhyl were kept in their own half. Benllech’s large pack caused problems and they were to score the first try which was unconverted.

Rhyl came back with a try scored by Jason Blackmore after some good work by the Rhyl backs. The conversion by Mark Price gave Rhyl a 7-5 lead at the break.

In the second half, it was Rhyl that made use of the sun, they scored two tries by winger, Damon Price with one converted by Mark Price. All Rhyl tries were scored after more good work in the backs, Benllech came back with another try to make it 10-19. They did go over the line once more which was ruled out for an infringement. The game was much closer than the previous meeting of these two teams.
