HARLECH 17 RHYL 10

Rhyl made the long journey to Harlech at the weekend missing eight first team regulars due to injury and unavailability and came away with a narrow defeat after what was a gritty and determined performance.
The visitors started much the brighter, with Rhyl's pack in control led by the excellent front row in particular.  Several good passages of play and some solid defence led to the opening try scored by  captain Dale Blackmore after some good work by the tireless Josh Woods, converted by Ben Jones.  Harlech then replied with a quick try of their own to leave the half time score at 7 all.
Rhyl again started the second half brightly with a Ben Jones penalty taking the visitors into the lead, however as the half wore on, the home sides organisation and a couple of sin bins for the visitors proved to be  too much for Rhyl's defence and two unconverted scores sealed a hard fought win for the hosts.
Despite the loss, credit must be given to Rhyl's depleted squad with solid performances from the front row of Harry Lowe, Alex Rowan and Geraint Higginson in particular however all who travelled deserve credit.  Rhyl would also like to thank local rivals Abergele and Llandudno for their co-operation with permit players.  Rhyls next fixture is next Saturday  at home to Benllech.
