Llangefni RFC 1st XV 55 - 7 Rhyl & District RUFC 1st XV

Llangefni RFC 1st XV 55 - 7 Rhyl & District RUFC 1st XV

A tough day for Rhyl’s young side but the score didn’t give a true reflection of how hard this group of players played. What can only be described as a massive Llangefni pack, with mobility, showed from the first minute when their  tight head man mountain of a   prop sprinted 50 yards bulldozing players out of his way to score the first try for Llangefni,  but Rhyl played on with a brave performance keeping the score to 19-0  at half time.

In a heated physical game, early in the second half the pressure told on Rhyl’s brave lads. After putting tackle after tackle in the injury count started to mount with four key players coming off with injuries. This allowed Llangefni to gain the upper hand in the last quarter, but Rhyl’s never say die attitude resulted in Rhyl’s number 10, Ben Syme, scoring a well-deserved consolation try which he in turn converted.

We are very proud of how these lads preformed and handled the defeat. Very difficult to pick a man of the match but had to give it to Joe Warhurst who never stopped all game with a tremendous all round performance.
