Welshpool Youth 12 Rhyl Youth 8

Match report- Rhyl travelled to play Welshpool in the wru bowl competition at Llanidloes ground. Against a large Welshpool team Rhyl started the game very slow after their 2.5 hr coach journey and  let the big Welshpool runners come at them past the game line. Eventually  the pressure tols and Welshpool scored the opening try . Rhyl then started to play with ball in hand and worked up the pitch through some strong ball carrying from Will Larter saw Welshpool concede a penalty which was calmly slotted over by Owen Jones. With their confidence up Rhyl started to make inroads to the strong Welshpool defence and working the ball through the hands found lock Tyler Prime out wide to score the try leaving Rhyl 8-5 up at half time. Rhyl looked like the team to progress through this tough cup match in the second half but some poor decision making let Welshpool in for a second try which they converted putting them 12-8.

Rhyl put all the pressure on in the last 20 mins of this game but the Welshpool defence held strong and Rhyl could not work a way through, ending the game with the last 5 mins all played in the oppositions 22 .
