Rhyl 15 Bangor 5,

Rhyl 15 Bangor 5,

Rhyl ground out an impressive win at the Waen on Saturday in heavy and difficult conditions against a dogged Bangor side.  Rhyl went into the game with several forwards unavailable due to work commitments however the pack competed well all day against a heavier visiting pack. To their credit the home side tried to play  their usual expansive game and after good work from the pack to work into Bangor's 22,  a solid scrum and quick ball gave winger Stu FellCrook a sight of the line and a strong run took him over for a try converted by Richie Williams.  A period of strong Rhyl pressure then saw some good movement and handling from the back line to lead to the impressive Fell Crook offloading for wing Reeve wright to score in the corner.  A penalty from Williams saw Rhyls lead increase to 15 points before Bangor came back into the game with a close range try to leave the half time score at 15 points to 5.  This proved to be the final score line as Rhyls superb defence comfortably held firm despite intense close range pressure and the game was closing out as the referee blew for time early due to a nasty injury to a Bangor player .
