Rhyl U11's travelled to Pentre Mawr for a fixture against local rivals Abergele. The first few moments of the game were evenly contested with good tackling and breakdown play from both sides however it was Rhyl who scored first with a well worked move seeing Miles Nosworthy scoring the first try of the game. Rhyl continued to press the game with Oliver Roe scoring the second try of the morning. Some great restart kicking from Sonny Williams and strong team chasing led to further tries from Leon Cotterill and Miles. Rhyl continued to dominate the first half with another two tries from Sonny and Zach Manley. All first half tries were successfully converted with Rhyl going into the break with a 42 point lead.
Rhyl made seven half time changes and continued to take the game to Gele with Sonny scoring the first try of the second half. Abergele rallied and scored their first try of the game. Rhyl responded with some strong running, off loading and passing to score a further 3 second half tries from Miles, Sonny and Lewis Jones. The game ended with a 66-7 away win for Rhyl.
The coaching team were very pleased once again with the manner in which the young team played the game. Their defensive play was very good however it was the direct running, great handling and clinical finishing that was particularly impressive.
