Colwyn Bay hosted Rhyl U14's and Abercwmboi U14's in a round robin. In the first match Abercwmboi beat Colwyn Bay 30-0 and showed their intentions for the day. Next up was Rhyl's turn to face the well organised big team of South Walians. It was very even affair with some fantastic contests in the breakdown areas, very strong tackles from both teams and evenly contested lineouts and scrums. Rhyl had most of the possesion but were held back for most of the game but a breakthrough from winger George Jones broke the deadlock at the halfway point, Rhyl failed to convert the difficult touchline kick. it was more of the same in the 2nd half once again but Rhyl had a lapse in concentration in the last couple of minutes leaving a gap 10 meters out for the South Walians to walk in a try which was also converted. Rhyl deserved a lot more from the game but certainly showed the touring side that Rhyl were a very good North Wales team. Final Score: Abercwmboi 7 - 5 Rhyl
Colwyn Bay v Rhyl After such an energetic performance in the previous match Rhyl were worn out and that showed by Rhyl trying to take the ball through the middle far too much and not finding the wings at all. A fairly contested match with Colwyn Bay being the better side by far and playing to their strengths whilst Rhyl were quite the opposite. Although the match ended in a draw it was a disapointing game for the tired Rhyl side. By the players own admissions they knew their discipline was poor and knew what went wrong and are all prepared to put the hard work in to correct this going forward. Final Score: Colwyn Bay 12 - 12 Rhyl Try scorers were Christian Hone (1) and Callum Gardner (1) with Gardner also converting 1. Player of the Day: Daniel North for 2 very good performances at 2nd Row, turning over lineouts and as always being in the right places at the right times.
